Inkle’s upcoming game, Pendragon, is set to release on PC this summer. If you’re not familiar with the game or the developer, you’ve been missing out!

Inkle is a developer particularly celebrated for the excellent 80 Days, a game based upon the famous Around the World in Eighty Days by Jules Verne. It was one of TIME’s games of the year in 2014 and was nominated for multiple BAFTA awards. Another of their games is 2019’s Heaven’s Vault, a science fiction and archaeology influenced tale which was also nominated for a BAFTA and won the Excellence in Narrative Award at the Independent Games Festival.

On April 2, Inkle officially announced their new game, Pendragon. The game will focus on the mythology of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. The official site promises that it will be a character-driven narrative strategy game with turn-based battles. The site also notes that “the game remembers and adapts to everything that happens.”

The game will include some of the famous characters from the King Arthur legend, such as Lancelot, Guinevere, Merlyn, Gawain and the antagonist, Mordred. The Inkle team has also been making use of various literary sources to craft their own angle on the legend, including the work of Alfred Tennyson, Mary Stewart and Rosemary Sutcliff.

Inkle released a very short teaser trailer for the game which gives us a look at the art style and a small exchange between Lancelot and Guinevere. It can be seen in the following video:

Interested in learning more about the developer? Inkle will be attending LudoNarraCon, a free Steam festival for narrative games that will take place on April 24-27. The composer for Pendragon, Laurence Chapman, has also posted a snippet of his work on the soundtrack right here.
