Presented as Romeo and Juliet meets Bladerunner, Beautiful is a platforming game with an emphasis on mobility. And by golly, it’s not not beautiful.

What originally began life as a challenge from Garrick Campsey’s friend to simulate cloth physics in a platforming game, comes a pretty vertical platformer that follows a pink-maned protagonist as she helps her android lover escape an oppressive government. Players will use each character’s unique set of skills to negotiate tricky terrain and keep enemies at bay. The story centers around the lovers’ escape into the city whilst being followed by the agent sent to hunt them down: As Campsey puts it, Beautiful’s narrative is told from these three characters’ perspectives that explores a whole bunch of topical themes including what it means to be human.

Beautiful is designed and programmed solely by Garrick Campsey who has previously released another title by the name of Astro4x, a similarly-themed strategy game, through Steam Early Access. It’s worth noting that Beautiful is still in the early stages of its development and Campsey has mentioned an interest in including a plethora of different game mechanics to make playing as each character a different experience and ultimately enhance the story. We’re certainly excited to see how it pans out!

Campsey wants to eventually launch Beautiful on PC, Mac, Linux, Xbox, PlayStation and Switch, and estimates a playable demo will be publicly available within the next few months. If you would like to follow the game’s progress for yourself, Campsey posts dev updates on his Twitter and Reddit.
