Horror (my own personal favorite genre of media) has had a bit of a resurgence in recent years from film, books, and games. This year alone, the remake of Resident Evil 2 has shown that the survival-horror genre still has a dead heart that keeps reanimating itself every now and then. Can’t keep a good zombie down.
Speaking of zombies — and to an even more precise point, RE2 remakes — Daymare: 1998 from developer Invader Studios has released a character trailer (seen below) for one of the game’s three protagonists. Focused on Liev, also known as H.A.D.E.S., who works for the Hexacore Corporation, assumedly the antagonistic force of the game that causes the outbreak. How long Liev will work for them is anyone’s guess, but I can only assume there will be some twists and turns in his way, as well as a number of zombies and other assortments of mutated creatures.
Daymare: 1998 has been in development for a few years now, and every time the developers decide to give us a glimpse of the game, it looks better and better. Originally the game started as a fan remake of Resident Evil 2, before Capcom asked the team to stop. They decided afterward to take all their work and make it into an original game instead. As mentioned before, the game will have three different protagonists to play as, each with their own stories and events. Invader Studios also released a news post on their website stating they plan to release a gameplay trailer “soon.” Here’s to hoping they can help shock a few years of life back into survival horror.
Daymare: 1998 has a tentative release date of “Summer 2019” for PC, PS4, and Xbox One
