‘Darkside Detective’ Sees Limited Physical Release this Thursday

Darkside Detective Physical Release

A little over two years after it launched, The Darkside Detective is set to arrive in limited physical form for the Nintendo Switch, courtesy of the folks at Super Rare Games. Spooky Doorway’s hit goes on sale this Thursday, September 19 at 1:00 PM EST, boasting a printed manual, new artwork on the case, a sticker, and three trading cards from a total of five which can also be purchased separately. Each of the 5,000 copies will go for £29.99, or roughly $31.14. Though Super Rare Games is based in London, Switch games are region-free so you can play no matter where you are.

The award-winning retro point-and-click mystery was released to critical acclaim, not only for its art but also it’s comedic writing. It will be followed with a sequel, aptly named The Darkside Detective: Season 2. The developers surpassed their £35,000 goal on Kickstarter and are also working on a different game called Sunken Spectre. Players can expect to see the sequel in Q1 of next year. This marks the first time one of their games have seen a physical release, though players can find it for sale on Nintendo’s e-shop as well.

From Steam:

Where cultists crawl, where demons dwell, where the occult… occults? *ahem* That’s where you’ll find Detective Francis McQueen, the lead investigator of the criminally underfunded Darkside Division. When evil darkens the doorsteps of Twin Lakes City – hell, even when it just loiters around shop fronts or hangs out in shady alleyways – he’s there, ready to investigate the cases that nobody else will.
He is The Darkside Detective.

The Darkside Detective is a micro-adventure game with a distinct sense of humour. It’s available on PC, Mac & Linux and consists of a series of humorous bite-size investigations into the occult and extraordinary.
