‘Those Who Remain’ Releases Gamescom Trailer

Developer Camel 101’s new psychological-horror game Those Who Remain received a new trailer ahead of Gamescom. The developer also announced a partnership with publisher Wired Productions to help release the game in western territories. Check out the trailer and a description of the game from Steam below:

“As the lights go out, the embers of darkness are stoked in the sleepy town of Dormont.

Whispers of disappearances carry through the town as a burgeoning, uneasy and irrational fear begins to spread and darkness comes to be an unwelcome reflection to Those Who Remain.

Some mistakes should never happen, not when your life is complete – and yet they do. Edward had the good life, a beautiful wife and the perfect little girl, yet finds himself several whiskeys down and driving through the night of Dormont to end his secret affair – in a bid to fix his mistakes.

As Edward pulls into the Golden Oak Motel, he is unaware just how much this night will change his life…”

The trailer has some trippy, dark imagery sure to at least satisfy those that want a bit more out of there indie horror games. For certain Those Who Remain has some fantastic lighting going for it, especially for an indie release. Based on the story description and tone the game seems to be trying to fit a similar tone to Silent Hill series or Alan Wake. Here’s to hoping it can strive to be as striking, memorable, and well-received as the entries in those franchises.

Currently, Those Who Remain has no release date, but Camel 101 has stated more about the game will be revealed at Gamescom, hopefully along with a firm release date. The game will release for Steam, Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Xbox One.
