After a trailer leaked just a few days ago, DICE and EA have released the full trailer for the upcoming sequel to the Star Wars Battlefront franchise. This new trailer has everything from the original trailer and then some. For this, I’m going to take a look at what the campaign could consist of, a topic that was mildly touched on in my previous post about the leaked trailer.
Thanks to the leak, we were able to get a glimpse of what might be a campaign mode for Star Wars Battlefront II. In this new trailer, a campaign has been confirmed and with that, we get an idea as to the plot of the single-player mode. Based on the trailer, you will be put into the helmet of an elite special forces unit for the Galactic Empire and the main story will focus on the 30 years between the Galactic Civil War and the Assault on Starkiller Base, a.k.a. Death Star 3.0.
In the trailer, your unit witnesses the destruction of the second Death Star and is then set on the course of vengeance, seeking to avenge Emporer Palpatine. It’s a unique take in that the protagonists for the game are part of the Galactic Empire, who have been marked as an antagonist for the past 40 years. It’s a unique spin that makes me hope that this unit of elite Storm Trooper ends up becoming the heroes of this installment.
Hopefully, this new story arc will help fill some hole in the current lore. We probably won’t know who Snoke is by playing Battlefront 2, but this story may give us some insight into the rise of the First Order and maybe even go so far as to show Ben Solo’s conversion to the dark side. Only time will tell how my speculation turns out, but in the meantime, here is the official trailer for Star Wars Battlefront 2, in case you missed it:
